Wheel of Morality, turn, turn, turnLast week I was reading the news, which was filled with stories about NRL Footy Show host Matthew Johns banging some chick that he shouldn't have banged back in the day. Reading the news a week later and it's still there, like a dog hit on a suburban street that no-one has claimed.
Here's what I can gather about the Matty Johns story, as told to you by someone who's been trying to avoid it. You know those people who have seen your favourite movie once years ago, and then try and tell you all about the plot? Like how Rosebud was the guy's dog, or how Lost in Translation gives a stunning insight into Chinese culture? Well, I imagine that my attempt will be no better.
Years ago Matty Johns and eleven other overfunded grunt sacks went to a bar where a particularly loose-moraled strumpet happened to be working. Her finely-tuned "celebrity" sense went off and she took two of them back to a room (which is a step above the toilet cubicle that footy players usually settle for) for some fan service. So what? People have sex in hotels all the time. Man bites dog. I'm an open minded guy, if someone wants to bang footy players then I say good for them. Keep reaching for those stars.
Then the rest of the team showed up, and a "bun" (I can't make this up) ensued. Half of them had their way and the other half watched and high-fived. If this turn of events disturbs you then it's probably because you have some kind of soul. Mine was taken away years ago by an inquisitive mind and an Internet connection. The cops looked into it at the time and found no crime. I imagine the scene looked something like this (NSFW). It doesn't break any classification laws if it stays in your imagination.
If this happened today we'd be seeing it on YouTube, not on Four Corners. The act doesn't disgust me as much as the mouth-breathing public's thirst for more does. If I hear any more about this I just might be put off seven-somes forever. For those of you reading this through the archive, this is the same week that has seen a $58 billion Federal deficit and the end of the Tamil Tigers.
Matthew Johns is no hero of mine, but neither are self-demeaning whores. What a mess. No winner here. I don't know where I stand, even if I did care enough. Any suggestions? Which is more socially acceptable, being anti-gangbanger or anti-slut? Please, be my moral compass.

Apparently, you don't care about it either, so why are you writing about it? How can you decry the fact the media are focussed on such trivial drival when there are budget deficits to write about, and then do the same thing? Start reading more interesting things and making witty social commentary on that. Even random wiki pages would be better.
As far as your concluding question is concerned, do you really need to ask? No laws were broken, all were consenting adults (i assume) and knew what they were doing (partying on down). Therefore: who cares? They're all sluts and there's nothing wrong with being a slut as long as you're honest about it with all your partners and they know where they stand (in line, as it were). This goes down all over town every weekend. It's not news. It's only because this guy is on TV and the media can mention his name and some ppl might recognize who he is that it's a story. Personally, i have no idea who he is, and it makes no difference even if i did, because i couldn't care less if tomorrow's headlines were about Rudd and Obama tag-teaming a goat. Sexual acts have nothing to do with morality, per sei. Honesty, loyalty and personal integrity a moral person doth make.
