In this week's non-news, Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe has had some shirtless photos taken. If you're reading this more than five minutes after the public's care factor period, this is what I'm talking about, and here he is on someone's god-awful Angelfire site. Sometimes I hate Google for giving me what I want. Apparently Daniel doesn't want to typecast himself as a child actor, lest he fall into the Macaulay Culkin trap of appearing in a Michael Jackson music video.
Why do we care? Why is this headline news? I think the media has been suckered in by what I call The Harry Potter theory ™. Ladies and gentlemen (heh, just kidding, women don't use the Internet), I present to you... The Harry Potter theory ™.
Some time ago when grown adults were going apeshit over Harry Potter and Harry Potter books were outselling the Bible and Sex For Dummies, I came to the realisation that all it would take to make a bestseller would be to take a regular book, and put "Harry Potter and" above the title. Imagine the possibilities! "Harry Potter and The Magic Faraway Tree", "Harry Potter and The Joy of Sex", "Harry Potter and Jonestown"! Those last two could be part of the same series.
Pottermania has died down a good deal since those days, so is my theory still vaild today?
This manual had been sitting on top of my tray at work for ages, not even I had read it. Frankly if you can't install XP, you can go and die. Earlier today I put those three magic words above the title and so far three people have picked it up and read it, one of them is reading through it as I write this post. Two more didn't read it but made a comment about it. By the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I'm on to something here.

I like you slipheed. We should be friends. But to prove yourself and get the glory you must win a bmx race down death hill.

This chick to my right is hot. But, Macaulay Culkin did rectify himself by appearing in a Sonic Youth video ("Sunday") and a Michael Stipe movie ("Saved").

The Harry Potter theory ™ is back in force. I picked up the Canberra Times today and look what was splashed across the front page:
